Meet Scott Backman:
Scott Backman is a Senior Partner in the firm’s Land Use & Zoning practice group. Scott represents property owners, developers and local governments in all aspects of the development approval process with federal, state and local government agencies, including planning and zoning applications, zoning code amendments, comprehensive land use plan amendments, environmental permitting, platting, developments of regional impact (DRI) and annexations. Scott assists his clients in navigating the intricate legal and practical issues that arise during the development entitlement process, including representation of client interests in administrative and quasi-judicial public hearings, code enforcement proceedings and procurement of government contracts. Scott also works closely with state and local government agencies on proposed changes to development regulations designed to ease zoning restrictions and streamline the entitlement process.
Scott’s clients are involved in a wide variety of development throughout the South Florida community that includes single and multi-family residential, mixed-use, urban infill, commercial, industrial, community facilities and local governments, among others.
Scott also works closely with transactional real estate attorneys on all aspects of due diligence and other matters affecting real estate transactions for buyers, sellers and bank/lending institutions.
